FARs in the States. Confused.

I am European and would like to ask you guys flying in the States a question. My apologies for beeing an intruder in your forum, but this site seems the right place for such questions...

Aicraft in the US are operated under different FARs. I ofen read about Part 135, Part 91, Part 61 etc. Can someone explain what these different FARs stand for?

According what FAR's are major airlines or a regionals operating in the US?
