A Message to Our Valued Passengers
From the US Airways Pilots

The US Airways Pilots in command of your flight today are your very best friends in the air. We have decades of experience and operate in the same environment with you, our passengers. Whether we are flying through smooth, sunny skies or spending hours dealing with bad weather and air traffic delays, we are always here with you, accomplishing our job of getting you safely to your destination.

US Airways management has recently begun pressuring your Captain to reduce fuel levels for your flight in order to save money. Pilots who fail to conform to Company expectations are subject to „training“ events which could result in the termination of their careers. We ask that you remember this: although we consider US Airways to have embarked on a program of intimidation to pressure your Captain to reduce fuel loads, US Airways Captains are committed to maintaining their right to exercise their „Captain‘s Authority“, granted by the FAA, to ensure a fuel load that will safely fly you to your destination with all the reserves necessary to handle any contingencies related to the flight. US Airways pilots believe that the Captain‘s right to make the decisions based on good, sound judgement should never be subjected to the winds of economics. A decision about handling out peanuts is one thing, fuel is quite another.

We‘re right here with you! Welcome Aboard!
Relax and enjoy your flight.

US Airline Pilots Association

I have the feeling US Airways is not the only airline urging crews to take less fuel. What about your company?
What are the 'company expectations'?
