Lufthansa is starting up a new business and is investing into a private jet fleet. The new product is called 'Lufthansa Private Jet' and will consist initially of six aircraft and is operated by SWISS.

Pilots will for the LPJ fleet will be newly recruited and not taken from within the existing corps.

The LPJ fleet is made up of 4 Cessna Citations, two CJ3 and XLS+ models and two Bombardier CRJ 200s.

I personally think this is quite a smart idea. Business Aviation is booming and why not offer your First Class passengers something even better? Besides, the airline can draw from their vast experience. But do they also have the flexibility of a small jet operator?

Hi,

I think its a pretty smart idea! I am surprised it took airlines so long to offer this kind of product...
With airlines struggling to survive and corporate aviation still going strong despite higher oil prices it is a viable idea to generate extra revenue.

Regarding flexibility I do not see much of a problem. Just hire flexible pilots icon_smile.gif

Cheers!
