Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum and a bit lost regarding my future career. Maybe some of you guys can point me into the right direction?

I am in my second year of uni studying computer science. Ever since I took my first test flight I knew I wanted to be a pilot and any other career path would not really satisfy me.

At the moment I am pretty low in cash due to my studies and I have no financial support from my family, but maybe that can be solved with a loan.
Considering the good economy and the hiring boom in aviation, should I just drop out of the university and follow my dream? Get it all done with an integrated course?

Hi dee hoh studyhard and welcome here.

That in my opinion depends largely on your own character type. You might be just fine if you follow your instict and leave the uni behind to pursue an aviation career. If you like a little bit of thrill, the unknown and don't mind not to know where it will take you in the end, then you might find yourself in an airliner cockpit in two years.

But, if you like security and you prefer to know whats happening next, then I think you better cont. your studies. It's a backup nobody can take from you. And you never know, the aviation boom maybe continues....
You write that you are in your second year. I am assuming you're therefore in your twenties. Ample of time in that case and I would not rush. Ask a good friend for advice as well. Good luck with your decision.

Not sure if you have thought of it already (sure you did) but I say it anyway...
Before you take out a loan and leave university and all the rest of it, make sure you pass the class one medical. Just my 5 cents.

I generally support Downmaster with his arguments. Just do a proper research and then "study hard"

Thanks to you all for your replies. Yes, I have thought of the medical already and I am planning on getting it done soon. Until I go for the medical check, there is still time to talk things through with friends etc...and to lookout for possible sponsors...
