I've heard in the news a Spanair MD-82 has crashed. Apparently one of the engines was the cause for the tragedy. My thoughts go to all the victims and their friends and relatives. |

According the latest info available it could have been anything. The aircraft apparently lifted off but then failed to continue the take-off and descended again before it fell into pieces when it hit the ground. Among the possible causes are: Wrongly calculated Vr, engine failure with bad luck or a combination of both or... The Flight Recorder has been found but it is damaged to some degree. @all: Please update this thread as more information becomes available. Wish I could write about something more cheerful. fliteadmin flightwork.com - International Pilot Network |
