Good evening,
I am a 19 year old from Dhaka,Bangladesh who is a big enthusiast of general aviation.I really want to be a pilot and this is the only dream I am dreaming from childhood.I have some queries regarding the courses and the duration.I am from a commerce background i.e. I didnt had physics or maths in my A levels. Now the questions are:
1)Can I really be a pilot?
2)If I can,how long are the courses?
3)I am currently doing ACCA and hope to finish it within 3 to 5 years. Can i start my aviation course after completing my ACCA?
4)Can u recommend some of the best Aviation Schools in Asia?
I would be very glad 2 get a response from you.kindly waiting in anticipation.
with best regards,Rayed

Hi Rayed,
Welcome to our forum
I would like to answer your qustions as follows:
1) Yes, you can become a pilot, even though you did not have physics or maths. Some airlines might have requirements to have such qualifications. In the the world of business aviation requirements are usually not as strict. Before enrolling for a course, also make sure you are medically fit to get a licence.
2) If you do the training in one go (integrated course) until you get your frozen ATPL, it would take about 14-18 months.
3) What is ACCA?
4) I couldn't name you any school at the moment. But I believe your best bet is to try to get a sponsorship with a major airline in Asia. Singapore, Cathay, Air Asia, Tiger Airways, just to name a few.
Is there anyone else able to give Rayed some good advice?

There is no age limitation to become a commercial pilot. But your chances to get hired are much higher the younger you are. Please note though that there is a minimum age to get a pilots licence. For the issue of a CPL licence this is usually 18 years, for an ATPL it is normally 21 years of age. Companies might have their own age limitations, but this usually changes with the market situation, e.g.if there is a high demand for pilots, the age limit is higher. Is a surplus of pilots on the market the age limit is usually lowered.
Regards,
Stefan
