Idle reverse thrust during taxi?

Deleted user Can reverse thrust be used during taxi on a jet aircraft? My common sense tells me that its not a good idea on aircraft with wing mounted engines. But what about a/c with tail mounted engines?

Deleted user Hi,

From the A320 FCOM:

CAUTION

On taxiways, the use of reversers, even when restricted to idle thrust, may have the following effects :

-The engines may ingest fine sand and debris that may be detrimental to both the engines and the airframe systems.

-On snow covered areas, snow will recirculate into the air inlet, which may result in engine flame-out or roll back.

Except in an emergency, do not use reverse thrust to control aircraft speed while taxiing.

And this is what Boeing says:

"Reverse thrust above idle is not recommended during taxi".

The two statements clearly state the risks when using reverse, idle or not.
Boeing allows for some more room in their interpretation as they only do not recommend it above idle thrust. But I would think it is not advisable to use idle reverse on any airport as long as there is an increased risk for FOD, regardless of aircraft type.
