If you flew the 146 (like I did) then you should watch the new BAe 146 documentary film - 'Broken Wings' I watched yesterday. Very interesting and a real eye opener and left me thinking alot about my years on the type. Full marks to the film makers Fact Not Fiction Films, which was set up by former pilots so hence the attention to detail. |

Hi there and welcome to the forums, I just watched the trailer at http://www.dftenterprises.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=209 As it looks it mainly points out the many deficiencies the aircraft has Interesting indeed. As you were flying the type, can you confirm what is said in the trailer? More info about the movie also at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1211340/ Best, Stefan flightwork.com - International Pilot Network |

I flew 570 hours on type and I can't recall the aircraft ever being free of the dirty sock smell. I am now on the new generation 73 and yes we get the oil smells on descent sometimes its a hundred times better than the 146. In the film you have very key people saying the plane should have been grounded. Also today I have some health issues which may be linked to the 146 but who knows. |

Interesting. Maybe that explains why people are not really keen on going onto this type. I always thought it's the equipment itself since it's a bit old by now. Cabin air contamination is a controversial issue, but unfortunately reality. The question really is how much does it affect your health...I guess it's like with other things as well, some might react stronger than others, see radiation, electric smog, pollution, ... But it seems the BAe 146 is not on top of the list when it comes to good cabin air quality. flightwork.com - International Pilot Network |

As you discover in the documentary, the High Court of Australia rules inhaling oil fumes was harmful.... that does it for me |
