Hi, You may be interested to breeze through the following EASA Draft Regulations on Pilot Licensing which, if approved by the European Commission and Parliament, will come into force on 8 April 2012. Some of my initial notes: - The groovy part starts on page 17 with the new Light Aircraft Pilot's License (formerly Leisure Pilot's License to the dismay of some). There are amendments to the PPL section based on this new permit (actually, I see it as theoretically allowing pilots of flying cars in the future) and an introduction of the Sailplane Pilot's License. - Further down, I found a good organisation of MPL in relation to CPL and ATPL (especially page 35). Page 37 has the proposed changes to crediting of hours for the ATPL. - One interesting note to single-pilot single-engine class ratings is the simplified renewal procedure (page 4 - There is now a required banner-towing rating (page 54) and mountain-flying specific qualifications course (page 55) which I think were not there before. - The appendices contain further information for the particular type of test (IR, MPL, etc). I'll let someone else cover those though it looks a bit clearer and more strict on first look! I will try to add more detailed notes in some time but I hope others will be interested in assisting me on this! |

Interesting document...a whole industry will have to adapt to the new numbering system as the current JAR-FCL has a different one. I had a look at the Type Rating training paragraphs and the like and the rules presented therein seemed to be very similar if not the same to the current FCL- rules. But maybe the differences are in the details...At least the layout looks ok and it is much more user-friendly than the current EU-OPS 1 document which always makes me feel sorry for my eyes. flightwork.com - International Pilot Network |
