Hello at all,
I'm new here. I am living in Germany, 17 years old, doing the A-Levels and my ATPL module by module. At the moment I have finished the theoretical part of the PPL. However I need 150 hours of flight time in order to be able to get the CPL. The problem is that my Parents are only sponsoring the PPL but not the other modules.
I need some good ideas how to get these hours for free. I know I could do some sight seeing flights with people who pay for that but I don't know how to get theses people to know me.

Hello there and welcome to the forums. I was in the same situation some 18 years ago. To be honest with you, it's very difficult for a PPL holder to find people that are willing to pay something for a sightseeing flight. If someone wants to go for a sightseeing flight, then they book with a company at the local airfield.
And be aware that you are not allowed to make any gain from doing such flights. You may only charge up to the amount that you pay for renting the plane...otherwise you are becoming a commercial enterprise. And a PPL licence does not allow for such kind of flying...

Try for example to find a plane that you can rent for a good price. Maybe someone owns an airplane that is not flying much and is happy to keep it moving. Talk to other pilots at the airport, they might know a friends friend that...

Another alternative is to gain the hours abroad at an affordable price. Plan a longer trip and rent a plane, explore another country (US, CAN, Australia, NZ, Eastern Europe...), I have very fond memories of my hour building trips...And it was worth every penny.

I hope to have given you some hope. icon_smile.gif
Cheers,
Stefan
